Ahhh, there are so many places lately that try to do everything in one place - stores, media companies, and even restaurants. One place in the San Francisco Bay Area has learned that focusing on your strengths can pay off nicely.

Chicken Chicken! is located in scenic Burlingame, just south of San Francisco International Airport. Their speciality - I know you'll find this shocking - is chicken! They cook 'em on a wood-burning rotisserie all day long, and they've got a Caribbean flair to their seasonings. They've got some other foods (chicken sandwiches, soups, and salads), but don't kid yourself - go there and order a chicken dinner. A quarter white chicken is the way to go - an incredibly juicy breast and wing is a delightful entree, and splash of marinade that they put on it when serving just accentuates all the spices even more. There is a wide variety of side dishes they serve here - some rotating, but you can't go wrong with their buttermilk mashed potatoes (gravy is optional - though tasty, I usually go without it) and they've got a darn tasty rice (chicken-flavored, naturally). A variety of vegetables - raw and cooked - line up to tempt you as well. The highlight here, however, is their amazing cornbread that comes with all the meals. It's incredibly rich and has a mix of spices that I can't discern, but they make me drool. Eat it warm with some honey drizzled on it, and you're in heaven. :)

If you're in a rush or strapped for cash that night, getting a whole chicken to go is a great option - I've done this several times, and then made some stuffing or mashed potatoes at home. Their chicken is tasty even when cold.

Focusing on one major dish is often risky, but Chicken Chicken! does it well, and I hope they keep doing it for a long time.

Food: 5 - juicy and flavorful roasted (aka, healthy!) chicken, variety of side dishes
Ambience: 4 - clean and colorful, but can get a bit noisy. outdoor seating available.
Service: n/a - order at the counter and your food is dished up immediately. pay for your meal and find a table. folks behind the counter are nice, but there's not much "service", so to speak, due to the nature of the restaurant.
Overall: 5 - darned tasty chicken, food is ready to enjoy immediately
